Book # 29 : Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

"Pride and Prejudice", which opens with one of the most famous sentences in English Literature, is an ironic novel of manners. In it, the garrulous and empty-headed Mrs Bennet has only one aim - that of finding a good match for each of her five daughters. In this, she is mocked by her cynical and indolent husband. With its wit, its social precision and, above all, its irresistible heroine, "Pride and Prejudice" has proved one of the most enduringly popular novels in the English language.

Splendid. Jane Austen is a genius.

At first, I was barely wading through the words. The pages were dragging. I can barely relate to the story. But, by the half of the novel, where Mr. Darcy proposed to Elizabeth, I can't put the book down! It took a while before I got the hang of the story, but it was definitely worth it! Everybody's characters were well thought of, and their dialogues were very interesting. Austen's wit is extraordinary. This is definitely the best classic out there!

I definitely admire Mr. Darcy! If there really is a man like him out there, I'll search for him! LOL What made him even more admirable is that he can be real! Even though he is entirely fictional, his traits and characteristics are practical. And all of the characters and the plot for that matter! Austen can make a simple event such as Lizzy's and Mr. Darcy's story into something very alluring.

I'll certainly read all of Jane Austen's works! Long Live Pride and Prejudice!!!
